Belvedere Plantation, Spotsylvania VA
This is one of my favorite ‘lucky-shots’ as I like to call them. One of our local farms was hosting a two-day re-enactor event called “A Day in the Life of Spotsylvania.” The participants included members of the Virginia Renaissance Faire, 6th North Carolina Continental Line Regiment, Peninsula Artillery (ANV), 3rd U.S. Regular Infantry, as well as the Patawomeck Indians of Virginia. I was really struck by the 6th N.C.’s “Don’t Tread On Me” flag from the Revolutionary War period. I just happened to be photographing a few of the soldiers when it flapped into the frame and ‘took over’ the view.
