Jackson’s Headquarters, Winchester VA
This photo is of the rear entrance to Jackson’s Headquarters in Winchester. This place is without a doubt, one of my all-time favorite sites as it is filled with room after room of ‘Stonewall’s’ artifacts and possessions. In fact, with the exception of his house in Lexington, there are more of Jackson’s personal items here than at any other museum. The private tours that they conduct at the headquarters are spectacular. Unfortunately, photography is strictly prohibited once inside, so this is all I could shoot. Most people don’t know that this residence originally belonged to actress Mary Tyler Moore’s Confederate ancestor, and that she was instrumental in financing the restoration of its highly decorative wallpaper.
